Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss for American adults. Millions of people are unaware that they have gum disease, and about 30% of the population is genetically susceptible to contracting Periodontal disease. There are several risk factors that contribute to periodontal disease and they include smoking, stress, grinding teeth, diabetes, and poor oral hygiene.
When gum disease advances, it effects soft tissues, and breaks the attachment between teeth and supporting gums leading to jawbone deterioration and loss of dentition. If you notice your gums bleed when you brush, or if they appear red, swollen, or are tender to the touch, you may have gum/periodontal disease.
Among advance gum treatments we offer Soft-tissue laser therapy is very effective in reducing bacteria accumulation in the periodontal pockets and presents many advantages. The use of the laser beam destroys the bacterial in pockets and seals as it removes damaged tissue, so bleeding is minimal. Because of the reduced trauma, most patients feel better than they would after traditional deep cleanings.
